I have nothing against how TW plays CK. I think he pulls the young-Superman act off pretty well. My question is about the casting practices of TV and movie crews. Clark Kent is 18 right now, but Tom Welling is about 28 or maybe even 29. That's a decade's difference!
I've never understood why so many actors and actresses on TV playing teenagers are actually somewhere in their 20s. I can understand a one, two, or three year difference in age between actor and character. But four years or more, and I start to wonder if these people are too lazy to look for a talented performer who would reflect the age of his/her character a little more accurately. You can't tell me there are no talented teenagers out there! Look at Hilary Duff, Jesse McCartney, Kaley Cuoco, and especially Stephan Bender (young Clark in "Superman Returns").
Again, nothing against TW or his portrayal of CK. I just don't completely agree with the general casting practices behind contemporary film.
